Preventing and Responding to Financial Exploitation

Although most caregivers have our best interests at heart, financial exploitation is a serious problem both in the community and in facilities. Elder financial exploitation is when someone uses an older person’s money or property for their own benefit, instead of for the older person’s benefit.

It is important to understand your rights, watch for warning signs, and share any concerns you have. If you suspect financial exploitation, report it right away. You can call our Elder Rights Center at 561-684-5885 for help.
